Public Talk by Dr Richard Wu
2:30pm – 4:00pm Saturday 30 June 2012
Dr Richard Wu will be giving a public talk titled “Xie Yi and the Psyche”.
Xie yi or the freehand style of Chinese painting derives from the words Xie “to write” and Yi “meaning”. This talk
links the historical perspective of the great Xie Yi Chinese artists of their time and their state of mind, and the
development of the art. Dr Richard Wu is a practicing psychiatrist and historian, as well as, being an accomplished
artist. He was a finalist to the 2010 Dobell Prize.
