Public Talk by Dr Richard Wu

Dr Richard Wu will be giving a public talk titled “Xie Yi and the Psyche”.
Xie yi or the freehand style of Chinese painting derives from the words Xie “to write” and Yi “meaning”. This talk
links the historical perspective of the great Xie Yi Chinese artists of their time and their state of mind, and the
development of the art. Dr Richard Wu is a practicing psychiatrist and historian, as well as, being an accomplished
artist. He was a finalist to the 2010 Dobell Prize.
The Australian Chinese Painting Society
will be having a demonstration as part of
the Living in Harmony Festival, Chinese Cultural Day
on 1:15 to 2:45 Thursday 12 April 2012.
Our theme for demonstration is “diversity with unity”.
